Manipulation and mobilisation
This is a hands-on treatment approach sometimes referred to as ‘manual therapy’. Treatment is generally aimed at improving the movement within the joints that may be affected, but may also have significant benefit to the local soft tissue (muscles and ligaments). There are hundreds of different styles and types of manipulation that chiropractors can use. The type of treatment used will depend upon many factors including, the diagnosis, the regions that are involved, your age and what you are most comfortable with. Some types of manipulation may result in a noise from your joint, a cracking sound, other techniques will not produce any sound.
Soft tissue relaxing techniques
This is specific soft tissue mobilization. Again many different techniques can be used including massage, different methods of stretching muscle (e.g. PNF, PIR), trigger point treatment and dry needling (a method of reducing muscles tension and pain using acupuncture needles). Soft tissue treatment is usually used in conjunction with other methods of treatment including manipulation or mobilization.
There are many benefits to working on soft tissue that is damaged, too tight or over stretched including reduced swelling, inflammation and improvements in mobility, circulation and healing.
Exercise is important in helping you to control the problems that you have both physically and mentally. Chiropractors understand how the body works and what is required to help it recover from injury and to avoid recurrences and further injuries. By doing the prescribed exercises you are much more likely to recover quickly; conversely failing to do the exercises may lengthen recovery time .

Ultra sounds waves can be used to help stimulate the body’s healing response. By helping to reduce the level of inflammation in damaged tissues and increasing the local blood supply tissue are able to start the natural repair process more quickly. It also directly helps to stimulate the issues at cellular level to start the regeneration process and assists in organizing this repair work in a more orderly fashion.
